Wet Dreams is an account of the first and second Wet Dream Festivals of pornographic films held at Amsterdam in November 1970 and October 1971. Included in the book is a catalogue of the films shown, together with stills and full credits.

The remainder of the book is taken up with the fringe events at the Festival and is illustrated with some extraordinary photographs of the various activities. There is also a rather unusual photograph purporting to be Ms Germaine Greer in what may only be termed a revealing attitude; this picture is reprinted from Suck Magazine, issued by the same publishers at Amsterdam.

1874. "WHEN A CHILD LOVES AND WHEN SHE HATES". A Tale of Birch and Bed. By a Gentleman. (The title page headed: Social Studies of the Century series.) n.p., n.d. (Paris? 1876. "WHIPPINGHAM PAPERS", (The). A Collection of Contributions in Prose and Verse, chiefly by the author of "The Romance of Chastisement". London (Edward Avery) : 1888 (1887). 8vo. Pagination irregular, the pieces being individually paged. Publisher's vellum, gilt. No. 10 of 250 copies. Housed in a silk-lined morocco bound box, gilt. Ex-libris T. J. Wise. Some of the verses in this motley collection are believed to be by Swinburne; certainly the presence of the volume in the library of T. J. Wise, one of the foremost authorities in his day on Swinburne and his works, would seem to substantiate this. There is another copy, formerly in the collection of Mr. G. Legman, from the Havelock Ellis collection, now in the Kinsey Institute Library. He notes: 'Various similar poems in The Pearl (at no. 1410 ante) are attributed to Swinburne, in particular "Charlie Collingwood's Flogging, by Etoniensis" (No. 3, Sept. 1879), and "Frank Fane - a Ballad" (No. II, May 1880).' P.C. 27.a.35*. (Ashley 4395*).

1877. (Another copy.) The Whippingham Papers ... London: 1888.

(Edward Avery, 1887.) 8vo. Publisher's vellum, gilt. A ms note by H. S. Ashbee provides: `1 1/2 guineas. 250 copies. E. Avery publisher, Dec. 1887.' This copy is out of sequence of the limitation. P.C. 31.i.25.

1878. "WHIPSDOM" (by) Greta X. Paris: The Olympia Press (1962). 8vo. pp. 198. Original wrappers preserved. No. 115 of the Othello Books series. `Greta X' is the same author as `Angela Pearson,' q.v., ante. (30 April 1963.) P.C. 27.a.51.

Four plates. Original wrappers preserved. Inserted in this copy is a folded piece of paper on which is a MS note, in French, concerning the work. Les Supercheries de Satan is noticed in the supplement to issue 4 of Bulletin Trimestriel (Oct. 28, 1868) edited and published by Auguste Poulet-Malassis. In a note appended to the supplement of the following issue (no. 5, March 8, 1869), Poulet-Malassis gives the name of the author and adds the information that the artist responsible for the illustrations was, like Wicherski, a Pole. P.C. 31.k.13

See a similar collection, Der Spittelberg (1924), in this handlist at no. 1732 ante. (30 December 1972.) P.C. 27.a.73.

1882. WIK, (Stellan), pseud? "En Sjöman till Sängs". (Stockholm:) The Elephant Press (1967). 8vo. pp. 144. Twenty-one illustrations by André Sollier. Original wrappers preserved. (15 May 1968.) P.C. 15.df.10.

1883. "TELENY", or, "The Reverse of the Medal". A Physiological Romance of Today. In Two Volumes. Volume I (- n). Cosmopoli (London: ?Leonard Smithers) : 1893. 8vo. Two volumes, pp. 163, 191. Page 337 WILKES, JOHN

1884. (Another edition.) "Teleny" ... Cosmopoli (Paris?) : 1906. 8vo. Two volumes. pp. 148, 178. No. 67 of 200 copies. Ex-libris C. R. Dawes, with the Dawes Bequest label. Apparently a piracy by Nichols, in Paris, of an edition by Carles Hirsch. Inserted into this copy are the sheets from the French edition of 1934 containing the Introduction by Carles Hirsch. (13 June 1964.) P.C. 13.g.32.

1885. "Teleny." Etude physiologique. Traduit de l'anglais sur le manuscrit originale révisé par l'auteur. Tome Premier (- Second). Paris (Marcel Seheur?) : 1934. 8vo. Two volumes in one, pp. 133, 127. No. 59 of 300 copies on vélin teinté d'Arches. Original pale lilac wrappers preserved. From the Girard collection; donated to the British Library by E. J. Dingwall. Printed for members of the `Ganymède Club.' The Introduction is by Carles Hirsch. (9 April 1949.) P.C. 15.b.II.

1886. (Another edition of the English text.) "Teleny," or, The Reverse of the Medal. Paris: Olympia Press (1958). 8vo. pp. 203. Original wrappers preserved. No. 62 of the Traveller's Companion series. P.C. 17.a.34.

A brief introduction, unsigned (but by Maurice Girodias?), occupies pp. (5-6) and positively ascribes Teleny to Oscar Wilde. The History of Teleny is too well-known to bear repeating here; it is told at length by Carles Hirsch in his Introduction reprinted in the French edition of 1934, and most of this has been translated and published in Phillis and Eberhard Kronhausen's book "Erotic Fantasies" (pp. 143-147) . A summary of what Hirsch relates is also to be found in H. Montgomery Hyde's Introduction to Martin Secker's expurgated text of "Teleny" published in 1966 at London, in the late-lamented Icon series of pocket-books. It remains to say, however, that the French translation, true to its claims on the title page, was prepared from the original manuscript, the events of the story being re-located back to London and the missing Prologue replaced.

1887. WILDMAN, (Eric Arthur). [An enormous collection of exceedingly tedious publications, reproduced from typewriting, issued under the aegis of Wildman's "Corpun Educational Association" and "National Society for the Retention of Corporal Punishment in Schools" during the 1940's and so's.
