Original yellow wrappers, printed in black, preserved. No. 41 of 200 copies. The facsimile of the titlepage, reproduced from the edition that the present version is reprinted from, is dated 1696 and not 1796 as given by Gay on his own title. 1696 is correct, and is the date of the original edition. (i1 February 1875.) P.C. 27.b.31.

There is an English translation of this work, entitled Love in all its shapes: or, the Way of a Man with a Woman. Illustrated in the various Practices of the Jesuites of the Maison Professe at Paris, etc. (London, 1734. 8vo. pp. 58). The BL copy is pressmarked Cup. 800.b.32.

Limited to 260 copies, of which this is out of sequence of 125 on vergé chamois. Ex-libris Edward Phelips. The binding and disguising wrappers, which are bound in, are for a work by Auguste Comte entitled Mélanges historiques et politiques (Paris, 1913). This edition of Jeux innocents is unknown to Perceau, who notices only the edition of 1913, following. (22 July 1950.) P.C. 15.de.19.
