Following is our contract. I would like to remind you all that this is OUR contract. I would welcome your responses, but please don't feel like we need or welcome your criticism. It is working just great for US, and it is very personal and carries with it a great deal of symbolism and meaning for US.

Comments and suggestions are ok.

Also, I have come to place a great deal of importance on this little piece of paper, which we keep posted on the refrigerator unless his mother comes to visit. In the days after expiration and before a new contract has been agreed upon, I feel the most anxious and insecure that I've ever felt with him. It's sort of like we aren't committed for that time, although I know that isn't true.

First, by way of explanation, I will tell you that we lived together for several months before we decided that a contract was a good idea. The type of slavery my Master had envisioned did not specifically include housework. We had discussed the type of lifestyle we wanted, and we both agreed on fairly traditional roles: I take care of the house and garden; he takes care of the business (although I do have an office job). He takes out the trash and mows the lawn and takes care of the cars. We have a woman come in every two weeks to take care of the major housework, but I cook and do dishes and tidying up in the living area unless he feels like it. I also do weeding, etc., in the garden. I pay the bills, with his oversight. (He hates writing checks.)

The contract formalized what was already in practice. I have always looked on it as a type of practice marriage agreement. In our discussions about marriage, "obey"has always been a very important feature to the vows that we would want me to take. Although we take this contract very seriously, we also tried to make it (and the negotiations) fun. Some of the sections (like laundry, etc.) have an understood flexibility built in. We give each other gentle reminders (or not, if He is doing the reminding) if the other forgets some minor item. The major items have never been in question.

At any rate, the section referring to Master's laundry and dishes came up in the second contract. He had been a bachelor for so long that his habits were pretty sloppy, and he agreed that he didn't want me to be the kind of slave that goes around picking up after him in that way, although he can always command me to do so.

Also, the Play evening was important to me as our busy schedules began to ease out what Play time we had in the beginning. I get too keyed up without that regular release. This was added in the third (current) contract, and has been a huge relief for me, and I think he enjoys thinking about what he will do with me. I tend to like planning more than he, and will often ask on Monday which night will be our Play night, and then bask in that awful/wonderful anticipation until it comes.

I worked out the actual language of the contract, as he doesn't really enjoy that kind of thing. Each contract has taken several hours to finalize, and the days and evenings preceding the final agreement are filled with lively discussion as we ponder what really needs saying and what doesn't. There is a lot that we felt went without saying, and so is not here. In addition, there are a number of things that have been left out from previous contracts as we grew together in understanding and commitment. He likes to tease me about my preference for formal language, which I don't mind one bit.

CONTRACT THE THIRD

This contract is between (Master's complete name), henceforward referred to as "Master," and (my complete name), henceforward referred to as "slave." The basis of this contract is the parties' mutual love and desire to be united in the provisions provided herein. Both parties agree that should the mutuality of those desires change, on the part of either party, the contract becomes null and void upon a statement by one party to the other to that effect.

Section 1. General.

• A. Foremost, it is mutually agreed to and recognized that the parties believe these covenants are personal and do not apply in a social or professional forum, where respect for individual standing shall be considered paramount for all parties involved.

I. Social forum is defined as any social acquaintance of the slave. Professional forum is defined as any professional acquaintance or place of employ of the slave.

we added this because we both agreed that undue embarrassment in front of non-scene friends and co-workers was not what we wanted. This is a deeply personal relationship, and we wanted to keep it personal. However, I am still his slave and we often do pretty risky stuff in front of my friends and at the office. I have a feeling this section will be disappearing altogether fairly soon.

Section 2. Duties.

• A. Master.

I. The Master shall provide for the physical well-being of the slave. This includes, but is not limited to, entitlement to equal access and full residential rights to the Master's place of residence, currently (Master's address), and all other reasonable needs as pertains to a lifestyle on a par with the Master.

He really wanted me to feel secure, and I appreciate this clause every single day, although I don't think he realizes this.

II. The Master is responsible at all times for the physical safety of the slave. It is understood that the parties will at all times maintain a signal for the slave's use in communicating with the Master any undue or unbearable pain or discomfort, and that the Master is bound to respect that signal upon its use by ceasing and desisting all action (or inaction, as the case may be) after one repetition.

a. There shall be verbal signal, or safe word, agreed upon by the parties. There shall also be, for instances when the slave may be gagged or otherwise unable to speak, a physical signal or sign. The Master shall always make certain that the slave is able to use the signal, particularly when bound or otherwise restrained.

III. The Master is responsible for daily removing his laundry and dishes and the recyclables to their proper places. The Master will weekly remove the garbage to its proper place.

IV. The Master shall make certain that at least one evening per week is dedicated primarily to Play.

a. The week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday.

b. Play is defined as activities involving sadism, bondage, discipline, domination, "good" humiliation, and the like, as illustrated in such books as "The Story of O," etc., and within the guidelines framed by this document.

c. While Play can also take place at other times, and in combination with other activities, it is understood that on this night Play is the primary focus.

• B. Slave.

I. The Master owns the slave's body as a vehicle for his pleasure and retains all rights to its use thereto. This includes, but is not limited to, punishment for noncompliance with the Master's wishes; collaring; bondage; training; domination; and anything appearing in a legally produced and sold pornographic film.

Master especially likes to drag me into adult video stores all "slutted up" to get ideas. These were his words. <giggle>

II. The slave will obey the Master. The Master may punish the slave for disobedience.

We both recognize that this is really the key phrase. He can command me to do anything, and I have agreed ahead of time to obey.

a. The slave is responsible for properly displaying Master's equipment on the wall.

b. The slave will dress to the Master's specifications; specifically, the slave shall be accessible at all times.

i. Accessible is defined as available for the Master's sexual pleasure.

c. The Master reserves the right to bind, gag and/or blindfold the slave.

Notice that there is quite a bit of repetition in this contract. We like to see this stuff in writing as often as possible. I'm grinning broadly as I type all this, just thinking about how fun the negotiations are. Master enjoys reminding me of my status as often as possible.

d. The slave shall not masturbate without permission of the Master.

This one is hard for me, as I used to masturbate at least once a day. He often refuses my requests for permission, and of course he owes me no explanation; although I usually perceive it to be punishment of some type, I think he rarely intends it to be so. It's mostly another kind of reminder of who wields the power in this relationship.

III. The slave understands that part of the Master's standing in society is the desirability of the slave. Therefore, the slave will endeavor at all times to remain desirable to enhance his social standing.

I'm the one with the penchant for defining the terms, and I will be asking for a definition of "desirable" in the next contract.

IV. The slave is responsible for all thank-you notes and other social nuances traditionally assigned to the female party, and the landscaping of the Master's property.

Section 3. Terms.

• A. This contract expires on June 21, 1996.
