Chapter 4 - CEILING HOOKS

Ceiling and wall hooks are for very naughty people. They are a lot of trouble to install and explain to curious visitors, but if you both enjoy bondage you can triple your pleasure with ceiling hooks! Ceiling hooks open up a lot of possibilities, but most importantly they are great for use with a bar so that you can comfortably suspend the legs up in the air, out of the way. I developed this mostly because my lover enjoys oral sex but after a few orgasms she can't stand anymore and makes me stop. The bar, used over the edge of the bed, is great for oral sex and also regular sex, anal sex, ect.

Ceiling hooks bring about a great many safety issues. You're going to need large hooks with metal at least as big around as a pencil. Decorative hooks won't do, you need hooks that have a capacity rating of at least three hundred pounds. If you're not very mechanically inclined I know that sounds excessive, you and your partner together might not weigh 300 lbs, but together you could easily create that much force. If a person could lift 100 lbs and weighted 100 lbs, they could easily apply over 200 lbs of force.

Get hooks that are made for screwing into wood, with at least 1 1/2 - 2 inches of screw threads on the end. With a screw that big and long, you're going to have to pre-drill your ceiling to prevent the stud from splitting and to insure safety. You need to drill a hold that's 1/8" smaller than the diameter of the hook's screw. If the hook comes in a package, it might recommend the drill size. Buy or borrow this size drill bit if you don't already have one. Don't drill a hole too large or too small, it has to be right.

I recommend two hooks, in the following positions over your bed:

---------------
pillows
---------------

              X X |

---------------

The hook on the side of the bed needs to be on a side that is free and open, not up against wall or anything like that. With this positioning of the hooks, you can use both hooks to secure your bar over the bed in a regular laying position on the left side of the bed, or you can hang the bar from the "edge" hook so that your lover lays sideways on the bed with their bottom completely accessible on the edge of the bed under the hook.

Of course the positioning of your hooks is going to depend entirely upon the studs in you ceiling. These hooks MUST be screwed into the middle of your studs. You can find these studs by gently rapping on the ceiling with a screwdriver handle. Listen to the sound it makes, and move slowly back and forth across the ceiling, tapping as you go. You will hear a definite change in the sound of the taps when you pass over a stud. Practice this on the wall if you haven't done it before. You are guaranteed to find a stud on the left and right sides under and over every window, listen to the taps in that area to prefect your stud finding. Also, if you can find the filled in nail holes that will show you right where the studs are.

Try to drill your hole right into the center of the stud. If you make a mistake, put a little white toothpaste in the hole and try a different location. Once you have pre drilled your hole about 1 1/2 inches deep, start twisting in your ceiling hook. Screw this in at least 1 1/2 - 2 inches. When it gets hard to turn, use pliers or put a big screwdriver into the hook and turn it.

When your finished and consider your hooks ready for use, test them. Hang one of your heavy chains from the hook and pull on it. Then pull on it harder. Then just about hang from the hook, make sure it can handle well over one hundred pounds of weight. A little creaking and very little popping or cracking can be expected. Lots of popping and cracking means it's probably going to give way. Don't be looking at the ceiling while you're doing all this pulling. (duh) If you hear a lot of sounds like splitting wood, stop. Take out the hook, fill the hole and try finding the center of the stud again. Every home, apartment, and mobile home ceiling can handle all the weight you need it to if you do the job right.

Never use the metal clips, light duty chain, or key rings to support hanging weight. Only trust heavy duty chain and heavy duty S hooks for hanging weight! You can still put metal clips on the heavy chain as directed above for general bonding, but when you use the same heavy chain for hanging, put the chain on the hooks, not the clip. Allow the clip to just hang unused for hanging applications.

Pay attention. Disregard the safety issues I have mentioned and you could die. Let me describe how. Your lover's feet are propped up on the bar, you are between your lovers legs giving her/him head. Your lover starts to cum and puts a lot of weight on the bar. The bar gives way and crashed down onto the back of your neck with several hundred pounds of force.

This setup IS safe with the few and simple safety issues I have covered. Make sure to stress test your equipment before enjoying it. Don't skimp on safety, don't go out like a sucker.

Section 4.1 - HIDING CEILING HOOKS

Heavy duty hooks over your bed are hard to explain to the neighbors. I have some recommendations and I'd love to hear any of yours.

  1. Let'em talk! Smile wickedly and offer no explanation.
  2. Claim you don't know; they were there when you moved in.
  3. Install a third hook so the three hooks are in a triangle. Get some decorative netting and hang the netting over the bed using the hooks and put stuffed animals in the netting.
  4. If you want to go to a lot of trouble to seriously hide your kinky sexual practices, install Recessed Screw Holders.

Section 4.2 - RECESSED SCREW HOLDERS

There are several kinds of screws. Two kinds are wood screws and machine screws. Wood screws are made of metal but are made to screw into wood. Machine screws are made to use with nuts or other threaded receptacles. If you screw a wood screw into and out of a wooden hole repeatedly, the wood will quickly wear out and the wood screw won't hold anymore. Machine screws, on the other hand, are made to be screwed in and out almost unlimitedly. (Insert your own dirty remark here)

A recessed screw holder (RSH) is a specialized piece of hardware that is somewhat hard to find. Generally they are small rods 2-3 inches long and 1/2 inch in diameter. On the outside of this hollow rod they have wood threads, on the inside they have machine threads. The idea is, you drill a hole in the ceiling stud. Then screw a bolt with two nuts on it into the RSH. Use this bolt to screw the RSH completely into the stud. Then remove the bolt from the RSH. Now your RSH will accept machine threaded hooks that can be installed and removed in seconds, without tools. The hooks don't have to be screwed tightly into the RSH, just be sure you turn them at least a dozen full turns before each use. As long as you're not spinning around underneath the hook, it won't come out. After each use you can easily remove the hook from the ceiling just leaving a small hole. For maximum hide-ability you can even get a white plug the same size as the hole and thus plug the hole when not in use.
