Sadness
Emotional: Usually refers to a specific, often temporary, emotional state.
Cause: Often triggered by something—loss, disappointment, a memory.
Depth: Can be deep and intense, but doesn't necessarily last long.
Example: “She felt sadness after watching that emotional movie.”
Unhappiness
General state: More about a broader, ongoing sense of dissatisfaction or discontent.
Cause: Might not have a clear cause—it’s more about a general condition or phase.
Duration: Tends to be longer-lasting, even chronic.
Example: “His unhappiness at work made him consider a career change.”
