Lights out violation is usually a minor offense. Repeated offenses may escalate the level of punishment.
Residence halls usually allow people to live in private rooms, two to six people to a room.
To maintain discipline and order, every one gets up in the morning and goes to bed at the same time every day. The time for "lights out" may be decided upon by the staff, management, or in some cases the residents themselves.
