About SM-201

SM-201 Mission Statement
This article is posted so that you, the reader, have a clear understanding of "Why We Are Here".
Why is this Wiki being published
I wanted a platform that would allow for easy search and editing of information that has been collected over many, many years.
A single repository of information that I believe is important to anyone/everyone into the "kink lifestyle"
What can I find in this body of work?
Most of this Wiki-site is a collection of information about BD/SM/SM, fetishes, fantasies, and history of how we got to be where we are today.
Information describing the "tools of our trade", how they are used and safety concerns about them.
Articles describing personal events, their history and, in some circumstances, my personal involvement or feelings.
Who can edit information on this site?
Most wiki sites have an open edit policy: any one can edit anything. In an effort to avoid "graffiti posts", we limit the number of editors. If you wish to contribute on a regular basis, I will create an account for you. If you wish to edit a single article, email the information and I will edit the article for you.
Privacy Policy Please read this document!

I have tried to identify articles in the following manner to allow the reader a way to place this information in its proper context, and to decide which is fact, fiction or "feelings".

"Neutral point of view" articles and concepts
Most of the articles included within the SM-201 project have been added in accordance with the Wikipedia Foundation NPOV guidelines, except for:
"Personal point of view" articles
Articles that are clearly marked as being written from a PPOV view point
Information that is included and marked as being "A Personal Note from Robin"
"Robin's Personal Memories Project" includes my personal history/biography
"Historical significance point of view articles"
Articles that are included to present historical background or information which may not be verifiable such as stores and businesses that have may have ceased operation.

Where to begin

SM-201 is a work that provides a massive amount of information in a "Readers Digest" format instead of an in-depth, extensive "Encyclopedic" format.

If you are looking for information on a specific topic, there is a link entitled "Root" at the bottom right corner of each page. We have tried to place each page in one or more categories. "Root" is a road map of our site. (Just remember that each person has their own thoughts on how a page should be categorized, so EXPLORE!)

It has been written as a narrative work but it is not a novel. If you wish to read stories, I would suggest you start in the Library, Club History or Life Lessons.

If you are looking to meet/find others we have put together a World Wide Resource guide.

Feeling lucky? Try browsing the Micropedia and/or Macropedia to explore words or topics that you never knew existed.

For over fifty years (while BackDrop was operating) our club created a curriculum of topics that everyone on our session staff should know. We had regular bi-weekly classes that staff members taught and attended to learn about their Profession.

Our Community Portal page is an ongoing log of changes to SM-201. I would suggest that you, the reader, check it each and every time you visit!

Who are our users?

We have four basic types of users on our website:

  • Readers - Most of our users just wish to find information about a specific topic
They do not need log-in accounts
  • Editors - We have very few people who help keep our information up-to-date
You need to have an account to edit our site Username policy or send an { } or call Robin directly at (650) 465-0700
  • Donors / Sponsors - Help by paying our bills
Sponsors are allowed to have a page of their own and may advertise their products/services
  • Administrators - Take care of the day-to-day operations of SM-201.ORG

Want to help?

Would you like to support SM-201?

Please consider making a donation to our site. We don't want to rely on ads to bring you the best of visual culture. You can also support us by signing up for our Mailing List. And you can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. For great art and culture delivered to your door, visit our shop.

Although SM-201 is a work of love, it still needs occasional help financially. ( Paying for a cup of coffee so we can work until 2 am is helpful.)

Please call me if you can offer any type of help.
