A ball and chain is a device to make it difficult for a captive to run away. It consists of a heavy ball of metal attached by a chain to a cuff around the ankle. The weight of the ball makes it impossible to run while the ball is attached.
Such a device may be used in any scene where there is captivity or imprisonment, such as prison role play.
