In human anatomy, the ankle joint is formed where the where the foot and the leg meet.

The ankle is one of the major connection points (along with the wrist on the human body for bondage.

The ankle, designed to support the entire body mass when standing, is stronger than the wrist, and is able to withstand more weight during suspension bondage.

Name derivation

The word ankle or ancle is common, in various forms, to Germanic languages, probably connected in origin with the Latin "angulus", or Greek "αγκυλος", meaning bent.
