Over the shoulder

Over the shoulder carrying (abbreviated OTS) is a method to transport another person. The person is laid face down over one's shoulder with his/her upper body to the rear. The person's legs are held at the hollow of his/her knees to secure him/her in this position.

This position allows carrying another person, even if he/she is the same weight as oneself. It is a humiliating pose for the person being carried (since he/she is turned into a passive object, with his/her face down and his/her buttocks pointing up and to the front), and can therefore have humorous, erotic, or serious connotations, depending on the context.

The position is slightly uncomfortable for the person being carried, as his/her weight presses on his/her stomach.

This method of transportation can be seen in real life, comics and movies, e.g.:

as a fun way to carry a toddler or child (most love being carried this way by a person they know and like)
as a fun way to carry one's wife or girlfriend (a short distance)
to rescue a person who's unconscious, drugged, injured or otherwise unable to walk
as a kidnapper's method of carrying his victim

In the kidnapper's variant, the victim is often bound, gagged, and/or put in a sack to make him/her helpless.

The erotic component

The OTS carry has its own fandom and is often found erotic, especially when a man carries a good-looking woman this way. Fans have compiled lists and websites of OTS scenes in photos and videos.

Occasionally the over-the-shoulder position is depicted in spanking art, where the spanker carries the spankee in this way to the place where the punishment will take place. It is also possible for the carrier to lightly spank the buttocks of the person being carried in this position, generally as a prelude to a more severe spanking, or perhaps to deter struggling. Such actions are described in several spanking stories, particularly where the spankee is an adult brat, and the story is following the conventions of romantic spanking fiction.
