SASE is an acronym for "Self-addressed, stamped envelope".
CODAD is an acronym for "Coded response advertisement"

People who advertise would request people answering their ads for a SASE to defray the cost of postage.

When a person answered an ad in codad magazines, they would put their letter, along with a few dollars and a SASE and mail it to the magazine. Upon receiving your letter, they bank your forwarding fees, place your response into another envelope and forward it to the person placing the advertisement.

A few of the better known companies were Rigid Bondage Roster, Aggressive Gals

While most of the companies were honest and above board, I know of several magazines that ran phony ads just to pocket the forwarding fees.
