Male nude, rear view. Drawing by Leonardo da Vinci.

Rear view, also known as back view, is a view in visual art where the artist, the audience, or the camera looks at the back of a person or object. It is the opposite of front view.

This view is found relatively rarely in art because it hides the person's face. It is sometimes used in romanticism (e.g. Caspar David Friedrich's paintings) and in some computer games.

It provides a good view of a person's back of head, back, buttocks, back of thighs and calves.

In spanking art, it is found in pictures where the spankee is facing away from the "camera" (providing a good view of his/her buttocks), and in corner time pictures.
