Frontal nudity refers to nudity combined with a front view, so that a person's genitals are visible (as opposed to rear view or side view nudity that shows only the bare bottom). It is usually considered the most far-reaching form of nudity.

Sometimes people avoid full frontal nudity by turning their back to other people when changing clothes in sight, or by lying on the beach completely nude only on their belly.

The distinction "frontal" is meaningful for pictures and movies. In many cases frontal nudity is avoided or undone by purposely placing inanimate objects obscuring a view of an actor or actress' genitals or the shot is 'defused' by deliberately hazy lightening or focus.
