Latvia is a country in Northern Europe in the Baltic region. Its population is about 2 million, its official language is Latvian, and its capital and largest city is Riga.
Spanking in Latvia
In Latvia there is a spanking tradition on Palm Sunday (called Pussy Willow Sunday) morning. Children and women are awoken by being spanked with switches of pussy willow or (rarely) birch.
Latvia has prohibited school corporal punishment and also banned the parental spanking of children (in 1998).
