SASE is an acronym for "Self-addressed, stamped envelope".
CODAD is an acronym for "Coded response advertisement"
People who advertise would request people answering their ads for a SASE to defray the cost of postage.
When a person answered an ad in codad magazines, they would put their letter, along with a few dollars and a SASE, and mail it to the magazine. Upon receiving your letter, they bank your forwarding fees, place your response into another envelope and forward it to the person placing the advertisement.
