The Saturday Evening Post
The Saturday Evening Post was a weekly magazine published in the United States from August 4, 1821 to February 8, 1969. It featured articles on current events and pieces of well-written popular fiction in mainstream genres, at least one of which was usually run in serial format over several issues. These were supplemented by single-panel cartoons, small human-interest, humorous or poetic filler pieces (often reader-contributed), editorials, a letter column, and quality interior illustrations of both stories and advertising plus illustrated covers. Norman Rockwell did covers and illustrations for the magazine from 1916 through 1963, and gained his public fame by these works; several of these are among his critically best-acclaimed works.

Spanking parodies
The humor magazine National Lampoon did an ironic spanking parody for the cover of their September 1975 "Back to College" issue inspired by the above illustrations from 1931 and 1933. Imitating the meticulous style of Norman Rockwell, the Lampoon cover mocks the wholesome, innocent image of The Saturday Evening Post by showing a professor giving a shapely college girl a bare-bottom spanking with a slide-ruler. The deliberate erotic and fetishistic overtones are calculated to create a jarring impact (see photo).
Spanking Tails 2 is a fetish magazine that also copies Rockwell's painting style and format used for The Saturday Evening Post. Here, a teacher paints a target on the backside of a female student who is bent over for a paddling. (see illustration)
