Frog march
A frog-march (or frog march) is a general term for physically forced motion. To frog-march someone means to forcibly relocate him or her, especially in a degrading or humiliating manner. Its etymology is circa 1871, from the resemblance of a person who is being carried by his arms and legs to a splayed-out frog.
The term "frog-march", when not otherwise qualified, is often used metaphorically. When used literally, it does not precisely say how the forced motion is done. If the speaker or writer wants to be more precise, they can do so e.g. as in "She frog-marched him by his ear to the front of the class".
Examples:
- Carrying the person face downward by the arms and legs; when this is done by four people each holding a limb, the person's body resembles a stretched out frog.
- Carrying the person off by his collar and the seat of his pants, again giving the image of a frog, but this time with his limbs uselessly flailing about.
- Forcing the intractable individual forward with arms held in back or at the sides.
Spank marching
To spank march someone means to hold the person by the arm, shoulder, or nape, while the controller spanks them as they move.
