From dprdinky --

I was a teen starting back in the '60s. I really never found out about anything to do with ab/dl until I was in my mid 20's, somewhere around 1980. I discovered it by seeing something on the front cover of a "Letters" magazine, which said something about Adult Babies. I was surprised and relieved at the same time. Finally was able to make some connection. There were reports of earlier material on the subject in porn magazines like Rubber Life and such which provided a connection to the subject.

Anyway, I continued looking around at the adult magazine for more stuff about other stories or articles like it. I came across a magazine called "Nugget" which focused on fetishes, like diapers. Probably is still out there. Then I found some in Forums too. From one of those magazines they mentioned a source for this particular interest out of Seattle, Washington by someone named Charles "Cathy" Slavik - who published magazines and stories under "Infantae Press". There were "Adults in Babyland", "Tales from the Crib Magazine", "The Play Pen" "Tales from the Baby Room", "Back to Infantile Delights". Charles also was interested in Transvestism and so also published a lot of those types of stories too and combined the 2 on occasion.

There actually was a lady by the name of Florence who started both of these magazines under Amber Enterprises out of Milpitas, Ca, which some of her writings were eventually bought by DPF before she died. Slavik started his publishing company to help in distributing these magazines. One cornerstone was "Ask Baby Jenny" A real Certified Counselor who was also an ab, answering questions of others wanting answers. It was really cool to have her answer some of them. If you are lucky you might still find some of these out in Adult Book Stores and some of the older AB's might have them in their collection, like myself.

From the very first Florence and Cathy were dependent on friends who knew them to contribute case histories, pictures, and stories to even have the magazine in the subscription. There was a way of responding to others who posted pics and articles to get in touch with them personally by contacting Amber Enterprises with the use of a coded listing.

There were others out there that tried to provide some articles of interest or stories for those thirsting to get things into perspective. One was "Linda Latex" who wrote and contributed 100's of stories for others. If you were interested, she'd leave a classified ad in one of the porn magazines and would send you the stories, for a price.

The greatest advancement for AB/DL was the beginning of Diaper Pail Fraternity (DPF). It's significant that I write it out like that as it was known as a fraternity as its beginning was among gentlemen who were gay. Actually, there was a man in the Oakland area basically and affectionately known as Daddy Gene. He had contacts from around the US and the world. It was his mailing list and idea of developing an ongoing newsletter that helped to start Diaper Pail Fraternity. So Tommy took it and helped to see it come to fruition. It was almost 30 yrs ago it was started. I was one of the earlier members who subscribe to every other monthly published newsletter, which included a listing of new members and often times had their address and phone #'s.

As time went along more men who were not gay and even some women came to join this newsletter, eventually causing it to change the name forever to Diaper Pail Friends. Somewhere about 1989 or so. Over time Tommy began "selling" stories of ones that were submitted by the members, putting together a photo album of members (yes I'm in that particular album). He was able to sell AB clothing, which he actually bought or had contracts with others to make the items. Cloth diapers were initially made by Babykins and, or Baby Heaven. Plastic pants/vinyl pants were from Langley out of New England and VIP, the company that manufactured Gerber Vinyl for adults after Gerber decided not to make them available anymore.

Tommy also helped to produce several videos, which I happened to know at least 1 of the actors in them, and of course, I was aware of Angela Bauer who made some for him as well. Her husband Don contributed stories and articles to Play Pen before DPF made the videos.

Eventually, it was Tommy's idea to ask members to be ambassadors and host regional parties. Initially, he attempted to have a convention or 2 and campouts, which never succeeded, as he wanted a large number of people to come, but when only 15 or 20 or registered, he decided to go with the regional parties instead. Yes, I was an original regional party planner back in the 1990s. My name and address can still be found on the pages of what is/was DPF online.

So the earlier online stuff that came along was IRC and Newsgroups, which was back in the mid to late 80's. This was before AOL. You had to find an ISP to sign up and connect to the internet. The first time I found out there was anything related to adult babies, was a book put out about newsgroups, one of which was for adult babies. Nothing much but people contributing stories or contributing pictures. Bytemine first started out that way, where you could pay a price and have access to some of their pictures. You can still find them online.

Once the idea of developing websites and webpages in the early 90's a member of DPF volunteered to develop and website for Tommy. I don't know if Tommy ever paid for a webmaster, I'm sure he must've, but the guy was out of Tx. somewhere.

The plan was to make the site great access for all ages. That is why the chat rooms were created. Other than what was being offered through IRC/IFC's there weren't any chat places that existed. DPF became the place to establish a link to other AB/DL sites that were coming online the internet, it was the place to find a source of ab clothing, videos, pictures, and the place to find others either near you or who had similar interests that you had. Tommy tried to continue offering both the printed newsletter and online newsletter until 2004 due to failing health and an inability to continue selling products online. After all, by then there were several places you could find stories or pictures. Yahoo and MSN were developing groups that specialized in TB/AB/DL/IC.

I've heard of several people who'd like to take over DPF and re-energize it. Time will tell what happens to it.

I wish I could find some of the original members of DPF before it was started when they were connected with Gene. History really does need to be put together to enhance the understanding of where we have come.
