Dirty talk, formally known as lagnolalia, is the practice of using graphic word imagery to heighten sexual pleasure before and during the sex act. It is commonly a part of foreplay.
Dirty talk can include vivid erotic descriptions, sexual humor, sexual commands and rude words. It may be whispered into a lover's ear or spoken over a telephone.
When lovers are apart from one another and physical intimacy is impossible, it can be an important aspect of virtual sex, particularly phone sex.
Dirty talk is more sexual in nature than pillow talk and tends to precede rather than follow love making.
Sex educators advise talking about sex with a partner beforehand to make sex better and safer.
