Cuteness is a particular kind of beauty linked to youth. A simple way to define cuteness is this: an object is cute if it instills in humans a desire to care for it. Human infants and many baby animals define "cuteness" for most people, and the standard characteristics of infancy are typically used to judge the cuteness of other phenomena (for example, plush toys or adult animals).

Cuteness is usually characterized by (though not limited to) some combination of infant-like physical traits, especially small body size with a disproportionately big head, large eyes, a small nose, dimples, round and softer body features. Infantile personality traits, such as playfulness, fragility, helplessness, innocence, affectionate behavior and a need to be nurtured are also generally considered cute.

Kawaii

Kawaii (meaning cute in Japanese) is a prevelant theme in modern Japanese culture. Westerners, especially those exposed to anime, are often intrigued by this concept of cuteness and to all the areas it is spread including military, politics, and corporate business.

Cuteness in spanking art

In spanking art and spanking fiction, cuteness can be considered an important theme. A cute character is often said to be particularly spankable.

Cuteness is reached through a pretty, youthful appearance of the spankee, cute clothing, cute hairstyle (e.g. pigtails) and anything that emphasizes innocence and helplessness. This is not to be confused with cuteness associated only with children characters.
