Curtus
Curtus is the nom de plume of an English artist who specializes in petticoat punishment (forced cross-dressing of boys in little girl's clothes) and spanking art. He creates line art using the hard contrasts of black and white, with no greyscales, in the tradition of Art Nouveau illustrators. Occasionally his artwork is colorized.
Curtus began drawing in the 1950s. In the first two decades, he drew only for other collectors and fans, such as Nan Gilbert [Note 1]. In the 1970s he corresponded with Posey of Halifax Nova Scotia, an author who wrote the text to accompany Curtus’ art. He also began to exchange drawings with PRIM. In 1977, the British spanking magazine Janus (magazine) published some of his drawings of adolescent boys forced to wear shorts typical of younger British schoolboys.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Curtus used the name Guy Pender. His artwork was published in the United States in Amber E’s Crib Sheet and in publications by the Diaper Pail Fraternity.
In recent years, Curtus has drawn for publications by AKS Books. His total oeuvre encompasses more than 1,000 drawings. Carole Jean calls him "England's premier Petticoat Punishment Artist of the 20th century".
