Tuppy Owens

Tuppy Owens (born 1944) is a British sexuality campaigner, consultant and writer.

She was born in Cambridge and gained a degree in zoology from Exeter University. After working in ecology in Africa, Trinidad, and London, she established an erotic book publishing company in the late 1960s, and was responsible for writing and publishing The Sex Maniac’s Diary which was successfully published between 1972 and 1995, selling as many as 100,000 copies a year.

In 1975 she appeared in the artistic pornographic movie Sensations.

She trained as a sex therapist at St George's Hospital Medical School in London, where she gained a diploma in Human Sexuality in 1986 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco. She also appeared in several erotic movies in the 1970s.

In 1979 she started Outsiders, a charitable organization campaigning for people with disabilities seeking sexual partners.

She is Chair of The Sexual Freedom Coalition board, and the founder and a judge for The Erotic Awards. She now lives in Scotland.
