North West Mounted Police (1940) is a historical adventure film directed by Cecil B. DeMille and starring Gary Cooper, Paulette Goddard, and Preston Foster.
Synopsis
Colorful, if superficial, yarn set in the 1800s. Cooper plays a Texas Ranger tracking a fugitive across the wilds of Canada. Paulette Goddard is a French-Canadian spitfire who falls for Foster.
The spanking scene
Paulette Goddard gets into a fight with a burly Scottsman. He forces her over his knee and gives her a half-dozen hearty hand-smacks before letting her go. Gary Cooper is among a crowd of fur-trapper frontiersmen who look on in amusement.
