In-law are people who are part of a person's family by being their spouse's family. For example a person's wife's mother is that person's mother-in-law. Though not directly related via blood, they become indirectly blood related though a child.
In-laws and spanking
The stereotype of noone is good enough for my child leads to a stereotype relationship between a spouse and their parent-in-laws. This stereotype is heavily drawn upon in sitcoms. It is also drawn upon in femdom fiction where a mother-in-law will take into hand her lacking son-in-law, and discipline him via spanking and other humiliation punishments.
