High Protocol

In Leather/BDSM communities, "high protocol" indicates that the "protocol(s)" are mandated and must be followed. Such protocols often state what should be worn, how people are to be addressed, etc.

Low Protocol

"Low protocol" indicates that the protocols are to be treated more as guidelines than as hard rules.
