Common kitchen spatula

A cooking spatula, also known as a kitchen spatula, is a spatula used for cooking and other kitchen work. Cooking spatulas come in different shapes, sizes and materials, such as metal, wood, rubber or silicone. They have a flattened end that is used for lifting, flipping or spreading, and a handle by which the spatula is held.

Cooking spatulas can also be used as spanking implements, similar to a paddle or a wooden spoon. Some spankophiles have a particular liking for silicone spatulas, also known as dough scrapers (such as number two and three on the image to the right), which are very thuddy implements.
