A Bimmy is a form of short whip often used in naval training establishments. One of the types used on the training ship HMS Worcester can be made with five 24-inch thick leather boot laces soaked in warm candle wax to add weight, and bound with an extra lacing at the handle end, or one as used on HMS Conway by a simple length of tallowed rope. On Conway, it was usually over their normal day blue serge trousers, but on other training ships was also used with the cadet in only their pajamas.
