Towel whipping, also known as towel snapping, towel flicking, Rat-Tailing and toweling, is a fun way of spanking a person with a towel. It is common among children, teenagers and young adults at home, as a school prank, or in sports, e.g. in a locker room.

The technique is to hold the towel by one end and then make a quick flicking motion so that the other end of the towel snaps very fast forward, like a whip. If the towel is damp, such a lick can hurt quite a bit. The towel is often rolled up (often diagonally) for a better snap.
