Fetish footwear includes shoes that can be classified into three categories on this basis of design:
- Shoes that can't be used in any way other than as fetish objects.
- Shoes with extreme design, such as very high heels (more that 4 inches (10 centimeters) high) or padlocks, that makes them unpractical for everyday use.
- Shoes with a less extreme design, which are more comfortable, but still unusual.
