Army surplus stores are an excellent place to buy uniforms and military / surplus / camping gear items. Whether for use as they were intended on to be morphed into pervertibles, surplus stores are a good place to visit on an inclement afternoon.
These stores are also good places to find gas masks, ex-army issue hazmat gear.
Caution must be taken when buying second-hand gas masks. Older gas mask filters used asbestos, which is highly carcinogenic. There is also the danger of the equipment having been contaminated during combat or training.
