Kunzmann is a very exclusive German producer and store for handmade latex gear. Their focus is on latex wear, but they also produce and sell leather and PVC products.
History
The fetish-atelier "Atelier H. Kunzmann" was founded in 1950, shortly after the Second World War. Originally selling erotic underwear, the Kunzmanns quickly discovered the latex "Slim Wear" trend from the USA and started selling their first latex garments.
In 1961, the first rubber-fashion-catalogue appeared.
In 1966, company founder Helmut Kunzmann suddenly died and left his widow Irmgard with the challenge of running the company. Even though inexperienced in business, she quickly managed to make the company even more successful than ever before. In the early 1970s, the company expanded and moved to a bigger location.
In 1974 however, due to mismanagement from a new business partner, the company went into crisis and had to be closed down.
In 1975 Irmgard Kunzmann started a new company under her own name, using her existing contacts, customer base and some of the old employees. She created a new collection of up-to-date latex in the 70s style and published new colour catalogues. The company quickly regained its old momentum and builds a steady customer base by offering quality designs and custom manufacturing to the customer's specifications.
A few years later, Kunzmann's son Roland took over the business, while his mother remained as head of design. Even her granddaughter Donya joined the company, making it three generations of Kunzmanns actively working for the company.
General Info
Even though being the fetish company with the longest history in Germany (and possibly worldwide), today Kunzmann is still one of the best known and most popular makers of fetish clothing in Germany.
