Swimwear is clothing designed to be worn for swimming. It is also known by many other names, such as swimsuit, swimmers, bathing suit, bathers, aqua jammies, or swimming costume (sometimes shortened to cozzie).
A swimsuit is brief clothing worn to cover the genitals and a woman's breasts during a swim. Swimwear is made in various styles including boardshorts and bikinis. Some swimsuits cover more of the buttocks than others. For example, a thong swimsuit does not cover the buttocks, only the genitals.
Swimsuits for women are sold as either a one- or two-piece garment. Women may choose to wear only the bottom in some countries, e.g. France.
Men's swimsuits (often called swimming trunks) come in styles such as briefs (speedos, thongs), boardshorts, shorts, jammers, square leg suits and drag suits.
Swimwear may include accessories such as a swimming cap, goggle or mask. Inexperienced swimmers might also wear flotation aids.
