Hands in the Dark was the tenth pulp magazine story to feature The Shadow. Written by Walter B. Gibson, it was submitted for publication as "The Hand in the Dark" on August 1, 1931, and published as "Hands in the Dark" in the May 1, 1932 issue of The Shadow Magazine.

- Plot: Bob Galvin returns from South Africa to the home of his rich uncle, Theodore. But treacherous associates of Theodore Galvin abduct Bob and replace him with an impostor. The real Bob is held prisoner while the fake meets with Galvin's friends in an effort to uncover the secret of the message of strange red characters that will lead them to Theodore's hidden fortune.
