Biography

Alura was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of American parents who were serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve, and both of whom, soon after her birth, were transferred overseas to and stationed at a military base in Florence, Italy. A little over year later, in 1978, the family returned to the United States, as her parents. who both were transferred back to the U.S., moved back with her to the Philadelphia area, eventually settling in nearby Camden, New Jersey. While growing up, Alura began to struggle with her body image. As she explained in a 2012 interview: "I grew up really ugly. No kidding. I used to get beat up by boys for being so unattractive. Consequently, I had to learn to appreciate the goodness in people and the beauty in life". Reflecting on this treatment, Alura believes these early experiences endowed her with a deep sense of humility.

After graduating from high school and following in her parents' footsteps, Alura decided to enlist in the Armed Forces, where she joined the U.S. Navy (just like her parents), spending more than a decade working as a physical rehabilitation specialist for both the Navy and Army. She married her first husband and gave birth to their two children during this time. Her pregnancies caused her to gain weight, which had swelled up to 260 lbs (118 kg), which led her to follow a strict diet / exercise / fitness regimen to try to regain her former shape, as she soon developed a passion for bodybuilding.

In 2010, she filed for divorce from her husband and left the Armed Forces to move to Las Vegas, NV, where she began working as a stripper at the Palomino Club. At this point, she also started as an erotic and bondage model.
