Benjamin Banks (born February 24, 1968), better known as Steven St. Croix, is a native of Los Angeles, CA and a well known pornographic film actor who can be seen in more than 600 films.
Biography
St. Croix has directed several films and has expressed an interest in writing and directing in the future. He has won multiple AVN awards and was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2005. Steven has been praised by peers and critics alike for his acting abilities and is also well known for his sense of humor on set.
In 1996, St. Croix became the first man to sign a contract with one of the adult industry's largest video production companies, Vivid Entertainment . Shortly after which he took a 4 year break (1997-2001) from the adult industry to focus on a mainstream acting career. Among his notable roles in mainstream acting was as a pilot on several episodes of the TV series Babylon 5.
According to an interview, his dream growing up was to become an archaeologist.
Career
St. Croix entered the Pornographic film industry as a production assistant in December 1992. While working on the film "Deep Throat 6", he performed in his first scene after an actor failed to show up. In 1995, St. Croix became the first male performer to sign an exclusive contract with Los Angeles-based studio Vivid Entertainment.
St. Croix first left the industry in the late 1990s to pursue mainstream acting. During this time, he took classes under an acting coach and learned improv from the comedy troupe Groundlings. He also body doubled for Brian Bosworth, was an extra on Baywatch, and danced in music videos for Gloria Estefan and Jon Secada. After struggling to pay his bills, he returned to acting in pornographic films.
In 2005, he was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame. St. Croix left the Pornographic film industry again in late 2010, only to return in early 2012. In February 2013, he published an e-book titled "Porn Star: Everything You Want to Know and Are Embarrassed to Ask".
