Spoiled

Spoilt or spoiled (the later spelling is the dominant choice in American English), at its most basic, describes food that has deteriorated to the point of no longer being usable or edible. This description has been extended to describe people, especially children, who, due to overindulgent pampering, have become self-centered in their expectations often to the point of greediness and ignoring the considerations of others.

The saying "Spare the rod and spoil the child" reflects traditional parenting philosophies.
