A showgirl is a dancer or performer in a stage entertainment show.

Showgirls are usually attractive female dancers aged between 18 and 30 who follow a regimented schedule of work and exercise to keep their bodies fit and in shape for the stage performances. They also may follow a special diet to maintain muscle but not gain fat. The showgirl herself is considered a piece of art or a human sculpture designed to adorn the stage with beautiful, large costumes.

"Showgirl" is often used as a term for a promotional model in trade fairs and car shows, etc. These young women often have no dance or entertainment skills but are there to attract attention to their sponsors' products with their beauty.
