Welcome to Seriousbondage.com, a clean and well-lighted place for Bondage

here's a bookstore in San Francisco whose slogan is "A clean and well-lighted place for books". Well, I'd like to think of this website as "a clean and well-lighted place for bondage."

Hello, my name is Mark, the creator and senior editor of this website. This site is devoted to news and information about the expanding world of serious bondage play.

Late in the year 2000, I decided to create a hobby bondage site - the kind of bondage website that I myself would like to visit. (what other kind of website is there?)

~~ Mark, the creator and senior editor of this site

A site that's rich in photo imagery, stories, articles, and information. It was my idea that if someone was going to purchase bondage gear over the Web, wouldn't it be great to read a review about the gear or the supplier before they typed their credit card number into the computer?

Four years later - on April 3rd, 2004 - this website was officially re-launched as a commercial venture. It was reworked into a Webzine (Web magazine) format devoted to serious bondage - the first of its kind. The audience? People with all levels of interest and experience: people who are titillated by bondage but don't know where to begin, erotic explorers, psychologists, students and researchers, bondage collectors, experienced practitioners, and of course connoisseurs.

As this site grows you will see stories and articles written by authors other than myself. These authors will be knowledgeable in their particular variation of bondology (I made that word up), and supply us with in-depth news, reviews, and information that we can all enjoy and learn from. In addition, each article will contain a wide variety of photographs, illustrations and occasional videos, which will add to everyone's reading enjoyment and education.

Seriousbondage.com will only use models who are OVER the age of 21, so there will be no concern about using underage models for photography. Also, please don't expect to see photos of attractive models in sexually compromising bondage positions - exposed genitals and penetration. This kind of imagery is available on lots of other websites. Seriousbondage.com is focused on real people who practice bondage for pleasure or as a lifestyle - whatever they happen to look like.

Bondage is more than naked models and erotic photography. Bondage is also about sensuality, allure, romance, fetish, fantasy, and personal power exchange. Heck, I like tying up women in their street clothes as much as I like tying them up naked - probably even more. Don't get me wrong, naked bondage can be a lot of fun, but sometimes it's just a quick thrill - and only skin deep.

It's often misunderstood that the bondage itself can be an exciting experience - and much more than simply a foreplay activity. Naturally, everyone's first impression of bondage is that it's a means to have sexual control over another person. However, for many, the bondage by itself can be a highly emotional and erotic journey - allowing participants to explore their hidden fantasies and subconscious desires.

Quite often, these fantasies and desires are not associated with sex at all but instead focus on emotions such as helplessness and vulnerability, or dominance and control.

A common bondage image highlights an attractive woman in a helpless pose, reflecting our society's obsession with heterosexual sex and promiscuous women. Although there's plenty of evidence to support the statement that "sex sells", common bondage imagery fails to represent the growing number of people who have an interest in alternative bondage scenarios: women tying up men, switching (trading places), solo bondage, solitary bondage, extreme bondage, fetish bondage, couples tying up couples, gay and lesbian bondage, mummification and total enclosure bondage, transsexual and trans gender bondage, and bondage as an art form.

I am a heterosexual male and enjoy a number of these alternative scenarios. As a result, I'm frustrated with the lack of representation of these variations in the media and the lack of quality information available to those who wish to explore bondage that doesn't fit into the "helpless female" category. That's why I created this website. I would like to present a source of information that highlights what other people around the world are doing with their bondage play.

I'd like an alternative to traditional bondage media, and traditional mass-produced low-quality bondage gear found on the Web and in adult sex stores. Can you envision a newspaper or magazine about bondage, with photos and articles about real people who enjoy bondage in the privacy of their own homes and social circles? Who needs simulated bondage scenes and glamorous models when there are so many people in the world doing the real thing - and don't mind sharing it with others? Welcome to Seriousbondage.com!

The Internet has allowed bondage information to be shared quickly and efficiently around the world, and as a result, there's a growing interest in bondage as an "alternative" bedroom activity. Men and women are discovering that sexual and erotic fulfillment doesn't always directly involve their partner; some people need no other stimulation than to be tied up to experience a sexual rush or emotional fulfillment.

Let us not jump the gun and announce that we no longer need our partners to be sexually satisfied, but let us stop for a moment and recognize that some activities, like bondage, can sometimes provide a fulfilling experience that our partners - by themselves - cannot. The feeling of steel handcuffs closing around our wrists, or leather straps being cinched up tightly behind our back. To some, these experiences are just as sexy as candlelight, soft music, and lingerie. My point is that bondage can be more than a game of sexual control - the act of being tied up, or the bondage gear itself, can be the primary turn-on.

I invite you to visit this website often, and enjoy the world of bondage expressed by the writing and imagery of authors from around the world. I welcome your suggestions and comments. This website is a group effort, supported by people who enjoy the magic and romance of serious bondage.
