This article is about a Bondage Model

Sandra Silvers.jpg

Described as "a very attractive and slightly rounded brunette, very easy on the eyes," (Source: janesguide.com) Sandra Silvers is a performance artist from the United States specializing in bondage photography. She produces and stars in non-explicit images and films of herself and other women. A predominant theme of her photography is a combination of melodrama, fantasy, damsel-in-distress and intimacy. She describes this style of bondage as "Loving Restraint"

From her website:

"Loving Restraint is something that when done right brings a couple closer together at all levels. Trusting someone enough to play in this manner is a sweet and sensual experience. For the tie-er, the emotional rush that comes from the responsibility and reality of knowing that their lover truly trusts them with their most valuable possession, their body. And for the tie-ee, the bliss of knowing that they are ultimately, truly cherished, in that they gave themselves over to someone, who when given that total control couldn't and wouldn't take advantage of their power. Once within this kind of trusting relationship, the couple can engage in a healthy fantasy life full of experiences they never imagined fueled by imagination they had yet never experienced."

A "Rope Dreams" Interview: Sandra Silvers

Posted by Rob N

Hopefully, this will be the first of many interviews I post in the upcoming weeks!

I first met Sandra online in 2005 after she shockingly bad-mouthed lawyers in a post to D.R.'s Bondage Photography Group lol She and I had a discussion about that post and we've been friends ever since. I eventually met her a few years later at Fetish Con and she's one of the people I really enjoy seeing each year at the Con. Here is my interview with Sandra Silvers from www.SandraSilvers.com

1. Describe your very first times tied up both off camera and on camera?

When I was young I was always goading the neighborhood boys into tying me up. If there was a jump rope around, you can be sure it was around my wrists eventually. I’ve loved bondage since long before I ever got in front of a camera. The first time I was tied up in front of a lens was 1998, and it was a Polaroid! I was wearing a swimsuit and tied to a chair. I really wanted to know what it looked like, so I asked him to take the shot. I LOVED it! I have several full albums of photos from that Polaroid :-)

2. What is it about your work that you think makes you so popular with your fans?

I’d like to think my fans notice that I have been a life-long enthusiast and true lover of being tied up. That my passion for bondage was born long before I ever appeared in front of a camera. I also think it is because I am loyal to them. I only shoot what I really enjoy doing. They know that they can see everything I have ever done, in one place and for one reasonable price. I don’t look at them as cash machines and make then dig into their pockets to see something I did somewhere else. I have been loyal and reliable and exclusive to them for going on 17 years, and they have rewarded me for that every step of the way. I love my fans and never take them for granted.

3. Do you enjoy the pain elements that factor into some aspects of bondage modeling? And, if so, why?

I don’t mind the muscle aches that come with a strict tie and a vigorous struggle. I also like the bit of extra stimulation that comes from aggressive play. But the actual inflicting or receiving pain in bondage isn’t my thing. That’s probably why I enjoy giving and receiving bound orgasms!

4. Are you very selective about with whom you work? How do you decide who to model for or with?

Extremely. I am not on a content treadmill so I don’t need to shoot for the sake of shooting. I prefer to shoot with those gals I know and genuinely like, even love. I have a gang of about 10 of my “go-to" girlfriends that I keep inviting back for shoots because there is an actual relationship there. However that group is not the totality with whom I work. Generally, if I meet a model and she is pleasant, kind and has a good head on her shoulder’s I’ll try to get her in to shoot with her as well.

5. Have you, at any time in your modeling career, ever felt exploited

Exploited? Never. Betrayed? Well, that’s a different story. :-)

6. What do you think are the best and worst aspects of the adult industry? The best aspect is that with the current state of technology, a young woman can lay the foundation for a healthy, long, lucrative career if she does it right. Unfortunately, the industry is built on exploiting new talent, wringing everything out of them and then moving on to the newer talent and doing it all over again.

7. How does the bondage modeling industry compare now to how it was when you began your career as a bondage model?

When I started, the girls that got in front of a camera to be tied up were, for the most part, very much into really being tied up. It was their actual “thing". I miss that.

8. Is there a shoot you have not done yet that is on your "bucket list"? If yes, please tell us what it is.

That’s tough because I am lucky enough that when I get an idea I can make it happen. I remember wanting to be tied up in a plane in the air really bad and had a fan who took me and my crew up in a GulfStream G550! (update 1106 at www.SandraSilvers.com BTW :-)

9. What is the kinkiest thing you've ever done off-camera?

hmmm, well, I usually do my kinkiest stuff ON camera, so my off camera stuff would probably be considered more tame :-)

10. What advice do you have for models who hope to enjoy the longevity you've enjoyed in the bondage modeling industry?

Be exclusive and true to yourself. Be choosy. Own your image. Become a personality, not just camera meat. You own 100% of the supply of your image. Parcel it out carefully. Do everything you can to create passive recurring income down the road. Also It’s never worth risking your life or livelihood with a dangerous producer for a quick buck.

11. What else do you want your fans to know about you and your work?

Bondage is a lifelong passion that turned into my career. It has never been and never will be “work".
