A realiztic mask is a type of face covering that is designed to give the illusion of transforming the wearer from one person to another with a high degree of believability in the facial designs and appearance of the artifical face.

Very few realiztic masks are produced, as the required detail for such fixed full face devices usually does not give the illusion of being a real face. Most high end real face / realiztic masks are actually high-end composite applications that are made of segmented sculpted facial pieces that are specifically designed to fit the face of the individual wearer such as in the case of mainstream high-end sci-fi movies in which someone appears with an aged version of their true face.

Most "realiztic" faces are actually facial prosthetics made from high grade silicone rather than foam latex masks. Silicone prosthetics are the standard in the movie industry for creating realiztic-looking facial effects.

While many of these more realiztic face production companies make their products available to the general public, the cost of the material and detail needed to create such faces usually places them beyond the reach of the general public.
