Patriarchy

Patriarchy is a social system in which males hold primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. The corresponding female concept is matriarchy.

A patriarch was originally a man who exercised autocratic authority over an extended family as a pater familias, the head of a Roman family, the oldest living male in a household.

The concept of patriarchy is popular in the maledom/femsub BDSM scene and is also found in M/F spanking fiction.
