The New Club, established in 1787, is a gentlemen's private club in Edinburgh, Scotland. It originally met in Bayle's Tavern in Shakespeare Square at the east end of Princes Street, in the New Town. The Club then acquired its own premises in St Andrew Square before moving to its present site at 86 Princes Street in 1837. Today's building dates from 1969.

The Club provides a comfortable environment in which to dine, relax and meet friends or simply enjoy a cup of coffee. The convivial setting of The Morning Room provides a haven of tranquility from the hectic pace of modern life. Tea or coffee is available with a wide range of magazines and newspapers.

  • Dining at The New Club

The Club is open seven days a week providing lunches, dinners, and drinks in our 3 dining rooms and 2 bars. The paneled Members Dining Room is reserved for members and male guests for lunch during the week and mixed company for dinner and Sunday lunch.

Lunch for Associate Members and their guests is provided in The Oriental Room. Buffet lunches for both Members, Associate Members, and their guests are served in the spectacular Long Room.

  • Hospitality at The New Club

The Club has a range of banqueting and conference rooms which are available for private functions up to 200, wedding receptions, and small private dinner parties in an exclusive and unique setting with the spectacular backdrop of Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle.

Our banqueting manager will be only too pleased to help you with all arrangements to meet your requirements. The Club has an extensive selection of fine wines and spirits complemented by our own Club wines and whisky.

  • Entertaining at The New Club

The superbly appointed Ramsay Room, with a balcony overlooking the Castle and Princes Street Gardens, is unsurpassed for small dinner parties and cocktail parties. The more formal Library is the ideal setting for private meetings, lunch, and dinner parties.

The Business Room is available for small meetings and lunch or dinner. The Long Room is available in the evenings and at weekends for larger receptions.

  • Accommodation & Facilities at The New Club

The Club has 22 well-appointed comfortable bedrooms that include suites and double rooms all en-suite. Single rooms are also available.

For those looking for physical recreation the Club sports a swimming pool and sauna with an exercise area furnished with excellent gym equipment.
