Long term sessions
An extended or long term session can last an entire weekend, or even longer. (See personal note below)
An overnight session is an extended session in which the submissive spends a whole evening and night with the dominant.
Most sessions last for approximately an hour. The length is usually decided upon in advance by the participants as part of the pre-session negotiation. At that time, other rules are predefined, such as where, when, what will occur and who will be involved in the session, and safe words to be used.
Such a session will often involve a certain amount of session play, followed by a longer period of confinement or bondage, during which the submissive is kept in isolation, possibly involving sensory deprivation, to sleep. The following morning, the submissive will be released and may have some further session play before the session ends.
