Interactive Fiction are text based video games such as the Infocom game Zork (1980). They were available to gamers beginning in the late 1970s. Such games provided written descriptions of the environments and situations encountered by a player and allowed interaction with these environments via typed commands. The plots of such games were quite variable, but usually, involved puzzle solving and, occasionally, turn-based, statistically driven, fighting sequences.

Adult Interactive Fiction

Although their popularity diminished as graphics processing allowed for more sophisticated animation, a subgroup of programmers adopted the platform to produce interactive fiction games involving adult, sex-related, themes. Many of these games, such as Rakish (1998) and One Girl (2001), involve spanking.

One Girl by Dr. Khel won the Best Sex Overall in a New Age Game, the Best Technical Implementation in a New Age Game and the Best Adult Interactive Game awards at the 2002 Erins.
