An image editor is a software to edit digital images, either in bitmap (raster) graphics or in vector graphics.
An image editor can be used to create images from scratch, to edit existing images (e.g. photographs), or to combine images from various sources, etc. Image editors usually contain many tools to draw and paint, tools to create and change selections, various filters, tools to work in layers, masks, channels, and so on. They can open and save image files in many different image file formats.
