- zad (noun)
- a large, broad winged, black-and-white bird with a long, narrow, yellowish, hooked beak, found in the Tahari; they scavenge on carrion; similar to the Earth vulture (Book 10: Tribesmen of Gor, page 232)
- zad, jungle (noun)
- a less aggressive cousin of the Tahari zad; small, yellow-winged, scavenging birds with long yellowish, slightly curved beaks; found in the rain forest inland of Schendi (Book 13: Explorers of Gor, page 415)
- zadit (noun)
- a small, tawny feathered, sharp billed bird of the Tahari; insectivorous, feeding on sand flies and other similar insects; they often land a kaiila and spend long periods hunting the sand flies that infest the host animal (Book 10: Tribesmen of Gor, page 152)
- Zar (noun)
- a board game of the Tahari; the board is marked like a Kaissa board, but the pieces - nine per player, and called 'pebbles' - are placed at the intersections of the lines; movement is somewhat like that of checkers, but without capturing of pieces; the object of the game is to effect a complete exchange of the original placement of the pieces. (Book 10: Tribesman of Gor, page 265)
- zarlit (noun)
- large, harmless, purple insect about two feet long with four long, translucent wings, with a span of about a yard. It is able to walk on top of water because of its pad like feet and feeds on small insects. (Book 6: Raiders of Gor, page 5; Book 24: Vagabonds of Gor, page 160)
- zeder (noun)
- a small, sleen-like, carnivorous mammal which inhabits the rain forests inland of Schendi, especially along the Ua River and her tributaries; grows to about two-feet and weighs 8-10 pounds; is diurnal, can swim very well and builds a stick-and-mud nest in the branches of a tree overlooking the water, where it spends the night (Book 13: Explorers of Gor, page 312)
