Gloria Leonard (born August 28, 1940 in The Bronx, New York) is an American former pornographic actress who became the publisher of a men's magazine.

Early years

Leonard grew up in New York and, before entering the adult industry, worked for three years as a registered representative of the now-defunct Schweickart and Company on Wall Street. She also worked for various public relations firms, starting out as a copywriter for Elektra Records.

Career

Leonard began appearing in hardcore pornography during the mid-1970s, appearing in such noteworthy films as The Trouble With Young Stuff, All About Gloria Leonard (both of which were written and directed by Joseph W. Sarno) and The Opening of Misty Beethoven (directed by Radley Metzger). She worked with actresses Constance Money, Leslie Bovee, Sharon Mitchell, Jennifer Welles, and Samantha Fox before retiring from the screen in the early-1980s.

After that, for 14 years Leonard served as "publisher" of High Society magazine, which pioneered such novelties as nude celebrity photos and phone sex.

Leonard is a member of X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) and the (AVN) Halls of Fame. She served as administrative director of Adult Film Association, the film industry trade association, from 1989 to 1992 until that organization merged with the Free Speech Coalition. After being away for several years in the 1990s, she returned to the industry in 1997 and was elected president of the F.S.C. in 1998.

She won the Best Actress award for "Taboo, American Style" from AFVA (American Film and Video Association) and later became President of the organization.

She appeared in about 36 movies from 1975-1987, the most notable being " All About Gloria Leonard " in 1978.
