She is a member of the AVN Hall of Fame Boyer was born in Alabama and is the daughter of a former Attorney General of Alabama. She was married from 1989 to 1991 to fellow adult star Austin Moore.

Nicknamed "The Ultimate Goddess of Erotica" by fellow film star Nina Hartley, she appeared in nearly 200 Pornographic films spanning a 25 year career. She was an inductee in both the film critics XRCO and the AVN Hall of Fame. She was killed in a car-pedestrian accident while crossing a street near her home by an off-duty member of the Florida Highway Patrol.
