Review from Amazon.com website:
by persons unknown

Sean Connery plays a master thief thought to be long retired, while Catherine Zeta-Jones is his foil, a hotshot insurance investigator assigned to his case. They both have a little something to hold over each other's heads, until it turns out that Zeta-Jones is a professional art thief herself and is playing on both sides of the fence. At first they eye each other with mutual distrust until they team up for a job, which goes off without a hitch. Inevitably their prickly relationship begins to thaw somewhat, and the two become attracted to each other as they plan out the massive Y2K bank scam that is the movie's climax (complete with sequel-ready ending). Entrapment plays somewhat like a '70s caper movie revamped for the gadget-happy high-tech '90s. The plot takes a few too many labored twists and turns, and the chemistry between the two leads is nearly nonexistent, though both carry on gamely in their parts. On the other hand, there is some genuine suspense in many scenes as they go about their business, dripping with whiz-bang burglary devices. Zeta-Jones, of course, is drop-dead gorgeous, and Connery is as reliable as always in his role. The fairly flat editing and direction tends to drag the film down somewhat, but fans of caper movies, high-tech thrillers, and the two leads should find plenty to like in this film. --Jerry Renshaw

Tagline: Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. Then again, practice makes perfect.

Plot Outline Catherine Zeta-Jones works for an insurance agency that sends her to track down and help capture an art thief, played by Sean Connery.

Plot Synopsis: Following the theft of a highly-secured piece of artwork, an agent convinces her insurance agency employers to allow her to wriggle into the company of an aging but active master thief. Connery's burglar takes her on suspiciously and demands rigorous training before their first job together--stealing a highly-valued mask from a chichi party. Their deepening attraction and distrust could tear apart their partnership but the promise of a bigger prize (some eight billion odd dollars) by Zeta-Jones keeps the game interesting. Only, who's playing with whom?

A Personal Note from Robin

Catherine Zeta-Jones in a zentai-style catsuit undulating amongst the laser beams. What more need be said.

Entrapment beings with as a priceless Rembrandt is stolen from a New York skyscraper in a daring and technically executed robbery, insurance investigator Virginia Baker "Gin" (Catherine Zeta-Jones) begins looking into the matter and is soon convinced it's the work of master art thief Robert MacDougal "Mac" (Sean Connery.) Gin thinks the best way to get the goods on Mac is to work her way inside his operation, so she locates him in London and, posing as a fellow art thief, offers to work as his partner. While Mac is smart enough to not accept an offer like that from just anyone, most thieves don't look as good as Gin does, and she soon proves an able assistant in a shakedown robbery where they swipe a rare Chinese mask from a British museum. After this success, Mac agrees to join forces with Gin for what is literally the heist of the millennium as Midnight rolls around in Kuala Lumpur on December 31, 1999, the security computers in a major multinational banking facility will be breached for a split second as the computers roll over to a new program for Y2K. Entrapment may have been pretty weak for a story, but the robbery scenes were very good. I liked this movie overall, I know it wasn't the best Connery, but I watched this for the sexy Zeta-Jones, I thought she was great.

In this film, Catherine Zeta Jones (CZJ) tries to learn the route through a series of laser beams to gain access to a Chinese mask. Sean Connery, as her teacher, expects her to move through the darkened museum. To this end, he has her don a blindfold as she wiggles and turns through the maze of laser beams. This sequence alnoe, in my opinion, is worth the price of admission to this film.
