The Diana Slip Company was created out of the business originally owned by Yva Richard – who created fetish lingerie and used his wife Nativa as his model. In the late 1920s he sold the company to Slip, to concentrate no his photography.

Slip proceeded to create some of the most intriguing lingerie photography of the era, using the photographer Morals as well as Biederer Studio.

These pieces are highly collectable images from a special period of Parisien haute fetish couture, and most definitely first generation and handprinted onto a high gloss photographic card.

Jean Moral (1906-1999)

Moral is without doubt one of the leading figures of 1930s modernity in Paris, along with Man Ray, Germaine Krull, Florence Henri and Maurice Tabard. From the very beginning of his career, his photographs - with their tight framing, dark room effects such as solarizations, photograms, superimpositions, and broad range of subjects - represented La Nouvelle Vision, or New Vision. Images of his wife, Juliette, that were very soon distributed both in France and abroad, presented a new ideal for life in the '20s and '30s: that of the dynamic, exhilarated, liberated woman and the vitality of vacations spent in the fresh air. As his success grew, Moral worked for Vogue and Paris Magazine before signing a contract with Harper's Bazaar in 1933, for which he worked until 1952. Jean Moral was the only great French fashion photographer to make a name for himself internationally and one of the first to bring models out of the studio onto the street, creating a style marked by spontaneity and movement.
